Hiring

I will be joining New York University, Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) as a tenure-track professor of Computer Engineering in Fall 2024. I will have open positions for Ph.D. students and postdocs! My research interests are in building practical solutions to improve privacy and trust in real-world systems. My work usually lies at the intersection of systems building, internet measurements, and applied machine learning. NYUAD has a thriving cybersecurity research centre with great collaborations between the Abu Dhabi and New York campuses. If all this sounds exciting to you, check the sections below for more details!

Q&A for prospective PhD students

  1. How does the PhD program at NYUAD work?

  2. PhD students are hired through the doctorate program of NYU Tandon School of Engineering. Students receive full funding via the Global PhD Student Fellowship. This fellowship covers all fees, along with generous assistantships and stipends for housing and travel. You will spend your first year in New York to complete your course requirements for the program, and then relocate to Abu Dhabi to do your research for the rest of the program. At the end of your program, you receive a degree from NYU which provides you with the same benefits as an American-university degree (e.g., OPT).

  3. Sounds great! How do I apply?

  4. Please apply via the admissions portal on the NYU Tandon website. The website also contains details on admission requirements. When completing the admissions form, you can mark the NYU Abu Dhabi campus as an option. The form also allows you to indicate professors you are interested in working with, where you can put my name. In addition to applying via the portal, please send me an email.

  5. How are you as an advisor?

  6. I'm happy to put you in touch with students I have worked with -- they may provide a more unbiased opinion :)
